Maremmana Mountain Biking Club Ride

This was not for the faint hearted!! Neel Saayman and Jan van Schalkwyk organised a Cape epic style ride from the club on the 18th of December. We had 20 riders from Cape Town to Paarl and Neel and Jan took them up to Elgin and back. Sue gave them a delicious lunch after the ride. All who participated have helped to plan the next event which will hopefully be a two day staged event with camping facilities on the polo field.

The Maremmana Polo Club and Gabrielskloof Winery Lunch

On Saturday 27th of November The Maremmana Polo and Country Club hosted its first social polo lunch day in conjunction with Gabrielskloof Winery. Visitors were welcomed with a glass of Genevieve bubbly and strawberries and enjoyed a morning of polo, wonderful weather and views across the polo field. All very social and casual. The lunch afterwards was a truly spoiling affair with a long table seating 60 people. We were treated to an incredible menu of fresh food and suberb wine that Gabrielskloof is now well known for.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Emma Boyle who is on a gap year from the UK and will be caretaking the club for the rest of the polo season. She is hoping to study event management next year – so we are delighted to have her on board.

October Newsletter

Maremmana Clubhouse
In my last newsletter, earlier this year, I made mention of a planned Clubhouse. This is now complete and Sue and I invited all the Trustees to an informal lunch on Saturday 26th September to officially open the new facility.

The architect was Neel Saayman, the Maremmana Estate Architect, We are very pleased with the design and functionality of the facility and I would like to compliment Neel on the final outcome. Aside from a few small frustrations with the finishes to the building, the project was successfully completed on time. Continue reading
